From Listowel to Ballybunion a distance of about 90Km a Lartigue Monorail operated between 1888 and 1924.
An interesting story about the problem of balancing loads for goods traffic is about the transport of a piano from Listowel to Ballybunion.
To balance the piano a cow was employed for the tip from Listowel, to balance the load returning the cow to Listowel two calves were employed from Ballybunion
and to balance the load returning the calves form Listowel back to Ballybunion one calf was loaded on either side of the wagon.
